Changgyeonggung Palace

창경궁

A palace the Japanese turned into a zoo — now restored to a palace once more.

Built east of Changdeokgung as living quarters for queens and the royal family. Under colonial rule its halls were pulled down and a zoo and greenhouse put in their place; recovering both the name and the purpose took a long time afterwards.
