Oil tanks turned culture space — Mapo's secret depot, opened after 41 years.

An emergency fuel reserve built into Mapo's Maebongsan after the 1973 oil crisis. Sealed off for 41 years, its five giant tanks were reborn in 2017 as performance halls, galleries and a café. Concrete retaining walls and rusted steel plates remain in place, making an unusual walk through the traces of industry.
